The crew arrives set up to finish: washing off dust and chalked paint, sanding, priming, then UV-stable systems applied inside the day’s workable temperature window, with floors and gardens sheeted.
Before the crew leaves Mildura we walk every room and elevation with you, fix anything on the spot, and leave the 7-year written warranty standing behind the paintwork.
Painting a house in Mildura typically costs between A$4,000 and A$20,000 or more, depending on the size and condition of the home. As a per-square-metre guide, standard interior work runs about A$20 to A$30, detailed work with heavy trim rises to A$60 to A$100, and exterior repainting sits around A$15 to A$60. Mildura tends toward the upper end, because the period homes here carry more trim, taller walls and more preparation than a modern build. Four things do most of the work on your quote, and our painting cost guide works through three examples in detail.
There is no flat "Mildura rate" worth trusting. A compact brick veneer near Deakin Avenue and a sprawling weatherboard on a wide irrigation block ask very different things of a crew. Your quote turns on three levers.
The first lever is sheer area. Mildura homes tend to spread sideways rather than up: long single-storey floor plans, wide eaves, verandahs on two or three sides and outbuildings that often join the job. Two coats of interior painting through a long ranch-style plan carries more wall than its footprint suggests, and the price follows the metres.
Sun damage sets the second lever. Nowhere in Victoria works paint harder than Sunraysia: relentless UV chalks north-facing sheens to powder, 40°C afternoons bake resins brittle, and fine red dust settles into every film. An exterior repaint here starts with a genuine wash-down and the sanding-out of powdered coatings, plus lead-safe handling wherever the home predates 1970.
Product choice moves the price as well: a Dulux Wash & Wear specification costs noticeably less than Haymes Ultra-Premium, and Mildura’s extreme UV usually argues for heat-reflective, fade-resistant exterior systems rather than the cheapest tin. Whatever is named on your quote is what goes on your walls. For a ballpark before anyone travels, try our painting cost calculator.
Rate bands are only useful once you put them against a real house. Take a brick veneer or sprawling weatherboard in Mildura, wide eaves, fascia and full-sun elevations.

per square metre for exterior work, depending on substrate and access.
indicative range for that house across two coats, before prep condition and access are assessed.
That is a planning figure, not a quote. Preparation condition, colour change, ceiling height and access move it, which is why we measure on site and give you one itemised written price rather than a rate.

Sunraysia UV is harder on a coating than anything in Melbourne, and it is the reason cheap exterior work fails so fast up here. North and west elevations take punishing sun for most of the year. We specify UV-stable exterior systems rather than a standard acrylic, and we prep to suit a surface that has already been chalked by years of it. A wash and a top coat over chalked paint will not bond, whatever the tin says.

Heat also decides when the crew can actually work. A wall sitting at 40 degrees flashes the paint off before it can level, so a summer booking means chasing shade around the house and stopping through the worst of the afternoon. We build that into the schedule honestly rather than promising days we cannot paint through, and we would rather quote a realistic run than a short one.

Mildura is about 550km from our Melbourne base and there is no depot here and no same-week availability. Crews travel up specifically for confirmed jobs. Your booking is a dedicated run with the travel priced into the written quote, firm dates set when you accept, and consecutive working days until the job is signed off. If someone promises you a Mildura start next week, ask where their crew is based.

Melbourne work from the crew that makes the Mildura run. Exterior systems built to hold up under hard sun. On a period home the preparation is usually about half the labour, and it is what decides how long the finish lasts.
Newline Painting has painted Melbourne homes for more than ten years, carries $20M public liability cover, and won both the ASBA Small Business Champion award and a Master Painters Australia Award for Excellence in 2025.
A 7-year workmanship warranty written into every Mildura quote, so the finish is still holding its colour after a few Sunraysia summers have done their worst.
Every crew we send up the Calder carries $20 million in public liability cover, and the certificates are in your hands before a drop sheet goes down.
A confirmed travel-and-work schedule in writing. When a crew comes 550km for your project, the dates are locked at quote stage and honoured, not left vague.
In Mildura a paint finish gets judged against some of Melbourne's best-kept houses, which is the standard we quote to.
A Mildura booking gets a dedicated crew, not a rotating cast. The trade-qualified, background-checked painters who quote your job make the trip up the Calder together, stay on it until sign-off, and carry experience across the housing Sunraysia actually has: long brick-veneer family homes, older weatherboards near the river, and commercial frontages in the town centre. The 7-year written warranty travels with them. Meet the full team →
