What Changes the Price of a Mount Waverley Painting Quote

Mount Waverley pricing turns on the house itself. A custom-built 1960s home with raked ceilings and original timber asks different questions to a rendered new build two doors down, so we quote from three drivers, and the painting cost calculator sketches your figure before we even visit.

01

Surface area & number of coats

Footprint sets the base. Mount Waverley blocks run generous and the homes on them do too: four-bedroom originals, extended family houses and double-storey rebuilds all carry serious wall area. A whole-home interior repaint is measured room by room, so the quote shows what each space costs and lets you trim scope before signing.

02

Prep work required

Preparation carries the real hours. Sixty-year-old timber fascias, chalked render, hairline-cracked hard plaster and pre-1970 enamel treated as lead until tested: the originals here reward slow prep. On an exterior repaint under established trees, we also allow for washing organic growth off shaded south walls before any primer goes near them.

03

Paint product specified

Product choice moves the total: Dulux Wash & Wear covers most interiors well, Haymes Ultra-Premium steps the finish up a grade, and Wattyl Solagard goes on west-facing timber and render that cops the afternoon sun. Nothing gets swapped on site: the label on your quote matches the label on the tin.

04

Access & height

Access rounds out the number. Low-slung single-storey originals keep this line item small, but raked ceilings, stair voids in extensions and two-storey rebuilds bring platforms or scaffold into the quote, and the villa units and apartment blocks near the shopping village and the station add owners-corporation approvals and shared-driveway logistics.

An illustration of a woman sitting with a laptop next to a large online form interface with three input fields and a submit button featuring a right arrow icon.

1. Get a Free Quote for Your Home

Send the job details over, by phone or the two-minute online form: rooms, surfaces, and whether the home is a 1960s original or a renovation. An itemised written quote follows within a day.

2. Our Expert Painters Will Transform Your Home

One trade-qualified crew carries the job from first sand to final coat: garden beds sheeted, mid-century surfaces prepared to suit their age, premium paint applied, furniture returned to its place.

3. 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed

Sign-off is a walkthrough, not a phone call: we tour the finished rooms together, correct whatever you point out, and the warranty stays in writing for seven years, even on sixty-year-old surfaces.

What's included

Reliable Scheduling

A confirmed date means a rostered crew. If we say preparation starts Monday, it starts Monday, and you hear from us first if weather forces a change.

From start to finish, from booking to project complete, Newline did an awsome job. Selling a property is stressful enough and they certainly took the worry out of presenting the property in top condition. Not only the painting, but small cracks or a loose piece of skirting was instantly fixed. Couldn't believe it was the same property when they had finished. 6 stars if I could.

Thank you for the great job painting our house in Camberwell for sale before Christmas! Really appreciate the work your team did expertly for our bathroom, living room, bedrooms and the external house walls. Your team was efficient and friendly. We are very happy as it added at least $200,000 to the final house sale price.

I had a great experience with the Newline painting team. They offered a competitive price to repaint the interior of my apartment and were able to accommodate my tight timeline (they started 1 day after the quote was given) and still delivered high-quality work. Communication was smooth and professional from start to finish. I’m really happy with the result and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

All Newline Painting staff, Edward and his team were phenomenal. We needed to wait for another contractor to finish before starting the painting of the front facade of our house and despite a moving timeline, the NP team were quick to respond, courteous and were ready as soon as we were. The painting job is fantastic - the painters' attention to detail, thoroughness and efficiency was second to none. I'm very glad we went with NP as they're solution oriented and easy to work with. We'll definitely be hiring them again soon.

Ed and his team at Newline Painting did an outstanding job on repainting the interior of my home in South Melbourne! They were swift, tidy and professional throughout the entire project —5 stars wouldn’t be enough to rate their work. They weren't the cheapest quote we got but they definitely kept their promise on timeline, professionalism and their quality of work. Keep up the great work, guys! Highly recommend Newline Painting!

Local Know-How

What We Know About Painting in Mount Waverley

Highburn Estate, Mount Waverley · State Government of Victoria, Public domain / Wikimedia

Heritage in Mount Waverley means the garden estate, not terraces

Mount Waverley’s heritage story is unusual for Melbourne’s east: the precinct that matters is the 1930s garden estate around Winbourne Road and Sherwood Road, laid out with a circular reserve and palm plantings along its spine. Homes in and around that precinct can need City of Monash sign-off before an exterior colour scheme changes, while the rest of the suburb repaints permit-free. We run your street past the Monash overlay maps as we quote, so any approval need is known before you sign.

Lead-safe work on the suburb’s 1950s and 60s customs

Mount Waverley filled out across the 1950s and 60s, frequently as one-off custom builds rather than estate repeats, and the enamel on their original doors, windows and eaves usually predates the 1970 lead cut-off. Anything of that era gets tested. Until it clears, sanding stays wet, dust stays contained, waste leaves the site as controlled material and a HEPA vacuum finishes the clean. Later extensions and rebuilds skip the protocol and its cost entirely.

Painting mid-century modernism without erasing it

The suburb keeps a genuine stock of architect-designed 1950s and 60s homes: low rooflines, clerestory windows, stained timber and face brick that were always meant to be seen. Repainting one is an exercise in restraint. We match sheen levels to the era, leave timber that should stay timber, and choose whites and earth tones that sit with the original palette instead of fighting it. Where established canopy holds damp against a southern wall, we treat and prime for it before colour goes on.

Units, dual occupancies and strata near the shopping village

Villa units and newer townhouses have filled in quietly along Mount Waverley’s main roads and around the shopping village and station. Their repaints go through an owners corporation: approvals, insurance certificates, agreed working hours and shared driveways kept clear. We manage that paperwork and stage the work so residents come and go as usual, on anything from a single unit interior to a full block exterior.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you service Mount Waverley?
Yes. Newline Painting covers Mount Waverley (3149) and the City of Monash around it, with recent completed jobs in neighbouring Glen Waverley, Glen Iris and Hughesdale. You can also ring 1300 044 206 to ask whether a crew is free near you.
Which painting services do you offer in Mount Waverley?
Interior and exterior house painting, mid-century and heritage-sensitive repaints, villa unit and strata work, pre-sale presentation, feature walls, colour consultation, along with fence and deck coating and epoxy garage slabs.
Can you repaint a mid-century Mount Waverley home without spoiling its character?
Yes. Mount Waverley’s architect-designed 1950s and 60s homes are a restraint exercise: we keep raked ceiling lines crisp, leave stained timber and face brick that were designed to be seen, and match sheens and colours to the era rather than painting over its character.
Does the heritage overlay affect repainting in Mount Waverley?
Only in one pocket for most owners. The 1930s garden-estate precinct around Winbourne Road and Sherwood Road carries a City of Monash heritage overlay, so exterior colour changes there may need council sign-off. Across the rest of the suburb, repainting needs no permit, and we confirm your property’s overlay position while quoting.
Does lead paint turn up in Mount Waverley houses?
Mostly in the originals. Houses from the suburb’s 1950s and 60s build-out usually carry lead somewhere beneath later coats, so any pre-1970 surface is tested first; until results clear it, sanding stays wet, dust stays contained and waste leaves as controlled material. Extensions and rebuilds from later decades carry no lead risk.
Can you advise on colour schemes for a 1960s Mount Waverley home?
Yes. Eligible projects get colour guidance at no extra charge. For mid-century homes we build schemes around the original palette: whites and earth tones that work with stained timber, face brick and the garden rather than against them.
How is your work guaranteed in Mount Waverley?
Every Mount Waverley job closes with a written warranty covering the workmanship for seven years. Crews are trade-qualified and vetted, a $20 million liability policy stands over every site, and the certificate arrives with the quote.
Do you paint villa units and strata properties in Mount Waverley?
Yes. Villa units, townhouses and apartment common areas around the shopping village and station are routine work. We handle owners-corporation approvals, insurance paperwork and shared-access logistics from the first email.
Is pre-sale painting available in Mount Waverley?
Yes. Pre-sale repaints run backwards from your photography and auction dates. Presentation pays in a suburb where buyers, including families targeting the secondary college zone, expect established homes to show beautifully.
How do quotes and booking work in Mount Waverley?
The online instant quote is the fastest route, or phone 1300 044 206. Your written quote lists scope, products and dates against one fixed figure, and we confirm the start date in writing before work begins.
