A written 7-year workmanship warranty on every surface: the horizon a Hampton family home is painted on, so the finish is still working long after the kids have outgrown the school run.
$20 million public liability insurance, certificate of currency supplied before we begin: real cover for scaffold going up over side paths, garden beds and the neighbour’s carport.
Confirmed start dates in writing, sequenced around how the household actually runs: exteriors timed to dry bayside weather, interiors staged so bedrooms are back in use the same night.
In Bayside a paint finish gets judged against some of Melbourne's best-kept houses, which is the standard we quote to.
Painting a house in Hampton typically costs between A$4,000 and A$20,000 or more, depending on the size and condition of the home. As a per-square-metre guide, standard interior work runs about A$20 to A$30, detailed work with heavy trim rises to A$60 to A$100, and exterior repainting sits around A$15 to A$60. Hampton tends toward the upper end, because the period homes here carry more trim, taller walls and more preparation than a modern build. Four things do most of the work on your quote, and our painting cost guide works through three examples in detail.
Hampton pricing has a wide range for a simple reason: a weatherboard bungalow on a full block, a townhouse off the village strip and a two-storey extension are three different jobs wearing the same postcode. Three factors set the number, and our painting cost calculator gives you a working ballpark before we ever knock on the door.
What we’re painting comes first. Hampton’s bungalows carry more surface than they let on: wide eaves, timber-shingled gables, verandah posts and deep hallways. And a family-sized interior repaint that includes kids’ rooms, hallways and all the trim is a bigger scope than two bedrooms and a touch-up. The quote itemises every room and elevation, so you can trim scope to suit the budget.
Condition sets the labour. On a 1920s Hampton home that means roughcast render patched, shingle gables and weatherboards sanded back to sound timber, and lead-safe handling on anything painted before 1970. Distance from the water matters too: a home on Beach Road weathers harder than one tucked in by the village, and an honest exterior repaint quote reflects that instead of charging every house the foreshore rate.
The paint itself moves the number too. Dulux Wash & Wear costs less than Haymes Ultra-Premium, and on elevations that face the foreshore weather we specify Wattyl Solagard rather than hoping a standard exterior coat holds. Whatever the quote names is exactly what goes on your walls.
Rate bands are only useful once you put them against a real house. Take an Edwardian or interwar weatherboard in Hampton, timber sashes, fascia and a wide verandah.
of paintable exterior surface, which is the number that actually drives the quote, not the floor area.
per square metre for exterior work, depending on substrate and access.
indicative range for that house across two coats, before prep condition and access are assessed.
That is a planning figure, not a quote. Preparation condition, colour change, ceiling height and access move it, which is why we measure on site and give you one itemised written price rather than a rate.

The western elevations here take the weather straight off the bay, and they will always be the walls that fail first. Salt and full afternoon sun on the same face is a hard combination, and wind-driven rain off the water makes it worse. We prep those elevations harder than the rest of the house and use a coat rated for it, and we tell you plainly that the sheltered eastern side did not need the same spend.

Most of the weatherboard stock in Hampton predates 1970, which means lead in the older layers. We do not dry-sand it. We wet-sand or use a chemical strip with sheeting down, bag the waste, and clean up properly. If you have young children or you are pregnant, say so at the quote and we will walk you through exactly how we contain it before we start.

The Hampton Street strip is a working retail centre and shopfront painting there has to fit around trading. We do most of it after close or over a weekend, agree the hours with you before we start, and leave the frontage clean and open for the next morning. Same for the food premises along there, where we work to the surface and product standards those kitchens require.

Recent Newline Painting work around the bayside, kitchens and period interiors included. On a period home the preparation is usually about half the labour, and it is what decides how long the finish lasts.
Start online or with a phone call, whichever suits. You get a written, itemised quote covering scope, paint systems, dates and a fixed price, with nothing to commit to until you’re ready.
One trade-qualified crew runs your job start to finish: preparation matched to the age of each surface, premium paints, and your floors, garden and furniture protected before anyone opens a tin.
Before we leave, you walk every room and elevation with the crew leader, bungalow trim included, and anything not right is fixed then and there. The 7-year written warranty follows you home.
The crew that quotes your Hampton job is the crew that paints it: trade-qualified, background-checked and on a first-name basis by day two. They’ve delivered a full exterior repaint in Hampton itself, along with recent family homes in Hampton East and Highett, so they arrive knowing how shingle gables, roughcast render and weatherboard behave this close to the bay, and every job carries the written 7-year warranty.
