I have worked with Phi and his team at Newline Painting on several of my projects, and I have always been impressed with the quality of their work.
They specialise in high-quality finishes, and their attention to detail really shows in the final result. The team is professional, reliable and takes the time to make sure every project is completed to the client’s satisfaction.

As a designer, I know how important the finishing touches are, and Newline Painting consistently delivers.
I would definitely recommend Phi and the Newline Painting team to anyone looking to refresh or transform their space with a beautiful new coat of paint.

An exceptional result of my kitchen cabinets, which had difficult grooves and patterns to begin with. They knocked it out of the park and now my kitchen looks new and fresh without having to replace the cabinets.
The whole process was excellent. From first contact, to quote, to price, to organising a date and time, and the paint job. You can tell these guys care about their work and their customers. Will definitely use again!
Phi and all his painters are skilled, caring and do an amazing job. I rely heavily on their expertise which is an enormous help in my business when recommending to all my clients. Confidence all the way !

From start to finish, from booking to project complete, Newline did an awsome job. Selling a property is stressful enough and they certainly took the worry out of presenting the property in top condition. Not only the painting, but small cracks or a loose piece of skirting was instantly fixed. Couldn't believe it was the same property when they had finished. 6 stars if I could.

Thank you for the great job painting our house in Camberwell for sale before Christmas! Really appreciate the work your team did expertly for our bathroom, living room, bedrooms and the external house walls. Your team was efficient and friendly. We are very happy as it added at least $200,000 to the final house sale price.

I had a great experience with the Newline painting team. They offered a competitive price to repaint the interior of my apartment and were able to accommodate my tight timeline (they started 1 day after the quote was given) and still delivered high-quality work. Communication was smooth and professional from start to finish. I’m really happy with the result and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

All Newline Painting staff, Edward and his team were phenomenal. We needed to wait for another contractor to finish before starting the painting of the front facade of our house and despite a moving timeline, the NP team were quick to respond, courteous and were ready as soon as we were. The painting job is fantastic - the painters' attention to detail, thoroughness and efficiency was second to none. I'm very glad we went with NP as they're solution oriented and easy to work with. We'll definitely be hiring them again soon.

Ed and his team at Newline Painting did an outstanding job on repainting the interior of my home in South Melbourne! They were swift, tidy and professional throughout the entire project —5 stars wouldn’t be enough to rate their work. They weren't the cheapest quote we got but they definitely kept their promise on timeline, professionalism and their quality of work. Keep up the great work, guys! Highly recommend Newline Painting!

Local knowledge

What we know about painting in Dandenong

Heritage overlays sit on the civic core, not the housing

The City of Greater Dandenong keeps its heritage overlays tight: the 1890 Town Hall on the Lonsdale and Walker Street corner (now the Drum Theatre), Laurel Lodge and the Heritage Hill gardens on Langhorne Street, and a handful of early buildings near the market. Almost none of Dandenong’s postwar housing is covered, so most homes can take any colour scheme with no permit needed. If a property does border the civic precinct, we run the overlay check together before the quote is finalised.

Lead paint is the default assumption on postwar Dandenong homes

Dandenong’s housing boom ran through the 1950s and 60s, well inside the lead-paint era, so original weatherboard, window sills, fascias and older interior trim are assumed to carry lead until sampling proves otherwise. That means wet-sanding under containment, drop sheeting that captures every flake, HEPA vacuuming at clean-up and compliant disposal. The newer townhouse infill and the apartments near the station carry no lead legacy, so lead protocols never appear on their quotes.

Traffic film, western sun and honest exposure logic

Dandenong is landlocked, around 30 kilometres from the bay, so nobody should be quoting you marine-grade systems here. The real enemies are different: hard western sun that chalks acrylic on weatherboard and fades dark trim, diesel and traffic film that seals commercial facades near the Princes Highway against fresh paint, and slab movement that opens hairline cracks in rendered infill townhouses. We wash down, bind and seal to match each surface, then choose UV-stable topcoats for the sun-struck elevations.

Factories, shopfronts and the new apartments near the station

Commercial painting is not a sideline in Dandenong, it is half the suburb. We recoat factory offices, warehouse interiors and loading docks through the southern industrial estates, repaint trading shopfronts around Dandenong Market, the Afghan Bazaar precinct on Thomas Street and Little India on Foster Street outside opening hours, and handle owners-corporation work in the newer apartment buildings near the station: committee-ready quotes, insurance certificates supplied, access coordinated with residents and managers.

Why choose us

Why Request a Quote from Newline Painting?

Newline Painting has painted Melbourne homes for more than ten years, carries $20M public liability cover, and won both the ASBA Small Business Champion award and a Master Painters Australia Award for Excellence in 2025.

7-Year Warranty

Seven years of written workmanship warranty across every surface we touch, which matters where a 1950s weatherboard may be decades past its last full repaint and a shopfront takes daily knocks.

$20M Insurance

The certificate for our full $20 million public-liability policy, handed over before the first drop sheet is laid. Factory managers, owners corporations and careful Dandenong homeowners all expect it, and none of them need to ask twice.

Reliable Scheduling

Your start date goes in writing and gets built around how the property actually runs: school pick-ups, a commercial lease handover, or the dry spell an exterior needs to cure.

Rated 4.8 by our customers

In Greater Dandenong a paint finish gets judged against some of Melbourne's best-kept houses, which is the standard we quote to.

How it works

How to Book Your Dandenong Painting Service

1

Get a free quote for your home

Describe the work through our online form or over the phone: rooms, facade, shopfront or warehouse, plus timing. A written, itemised quote follows at one fixed price, with zero obligation.

2

A single qualified crew carries the job through: preparation matched to each surface’s age, floors, stock and machinery covered before painting starts, and premium product laid down clean and on schedule.

3

Walkthrough and 7-year warranty

The finish is yours to approve: we walk every painted area with you, correct anything then and there, and put the 7-year written warranty in your hand, lounge room or loading dock alike.

Pricing transparency

What Changes the Price of a Dandenong Painting Quote

Painting a house in Dandenong typically costs between A$4,000 and A$20,000 or more, depending on the size and condition of the home. As a per-square-metre guide, standard interior work runs about A$20 to A$30, detailed work with heavy trim rises to A$60 to A$100, and exterior repainting sits around A$15 to A$60. Dandenong tends toward the upper end, because the period homes here carry more trim, taller walls and more preparation than a modern build. Four things do most of the work on your quote, and our painting cost guide works through three examples in detail.

Surface area & number of coats

Dandenong quotes spread wider than most suburbs because the work does. Repainting a 1950s weatherboard near Dandenong High is nothing like recoating a warehouse office in the southern industrial belt, and the price reflects which job is yours. Three factors move the number, and the painting cost calculator on our site gives you a rough number long before anyone visits.

Prep work required

Volume of work sets the floor. Dandenong’s postwar homes are compact, so a full interior repaint of one often lands cheaper here than the same brief would in the inner suburbs. Commercial work runs the other way: a shopfront is a day or two, while a factory office or warehouse ceiling is measured in hundreds of square metres. Every room, wall and elevation gets measured, and the itemised quote spells out what you are paying for.

Paint product specified

Prep need shapes the labour bill. Most local houses date from the 1950s and 1960s, so an exterior repaint in Dandenong usually starts with lead-safe preparation on original weatherboard, cutting back flaking sills and fascias, and binding chalked paint on brick-veneer trim before anything new goes on. On commercial facades along the highway, years of traffic film have to be washed off first or no coating will hold. That groundwork is the reason we can put seven years of warranty behind the result.

Access & height

Product choice nudges your number too, with Dulux Wash & Wear at the value end with Haymes Ultra-Premium above it, while west-facing weatherboard and highway-side facades that cop the harshest afternoon sun call for Wattyl Solagard. What the quote names is what lands on your walls, with no swaps.

What that means for your place

A worked example for a Dandenong home

Rate bands are only useful once you put them against a real house. Take a brick veneer home in Dandenong, weatherboard gables, fascia and window frames.

195m²

of paintable exterior surface, which is the number that actually drives the quote, not the floor area.

A$15–60

per square metre for exterior work, depending on substrate and access.

A$2,925–11,700

indicative range for that house across two coats, before prep condition and access are assessed.

That is a planning figure, not a quote. Preparation condition, colour change, ceiling height and access move it, which is why we measure on site and give you one itemised written price rather than a rate.

Frequently asked questions

Dandenong painting, answered

Do you service Dandenong?
Yes. Newline Painting covers Dandenong (3175) plus the rest of Greater Dandenong, with recent jobs close by in Keysborough, Narre Warren South and Carrum Downs. Call 1300 044 206 to confirm availability for your street.
What painting services can I book in Dandenong?
Interior and exterior house painting, commercial painting for shopfronts, factory offices and warehouses, pre-sale and end-of-lease repaints, apartment and owners-corporation work, feature walls and decorative French wash work, along with fences, decks and epoxy flooring.
Do you paint factories, warehouses and shopfronts in Dandenong?
Yes. Commercial work is a core part of our Dandenong workload. We recoat factory offices, warehouse interiors and loading docks in the southern industrial estates, and repaint trading shopfronts around Dandenong Market and the Lonsdale Street strip outside opening hours, working around stock, racking and shift patterns.
Can you paint my Dandenong shop without closing it?
Usually, yes. Shopfront and cafe repaints around the market precinct are scheduled for evenings, early mornings or your closed day, with low-odour paints inside and each area masked, painted and handed back before trade resumes.
Is lead paint a concern in Dandenong homes?
Often, yes. Most of Dandenong’s houses were built in the 1950s and 60s, inside the lead-paint era, so we treat original weatherboard, sills and older trim as lead-coated until testing rules it out: wet-sanding under containment, full drop sheeting, HEPA vacuuming and compliant disposal. Newer townhouses and apartments have no lead history and are never charged for lead protocols.
Do I need council approval to repaint my Dandenong home?
Almost never. Greater Dandenong’s heritage overlays concentrate on the civic core, places like the old Town Hall and Laurel Lodge, not on the postwar housing streets. Most homes can take any colour scheme without needing a permit, and if your property sits near the precinct we confirm its overlay position while preparing the quote.
My weatherboards are flaking and chalky. Can you fix them before repainting?
Yes. Flaking, chalked weatherboard is the standard starting point on Dandenong’s postwar homes. We cut back failed coatings, sand lead-safely, spot-prime bare timber, bind chalked surfaces and fill gaps, then apply a UV-stable exterior system so the new finish lasts.
Can you work with our owners corporation on a Dandenong apartment building?
Yes. For the newer buildings near Dandenong station and townhouse developments across the suburb, we draft quotes ready for committee approval, provide insurance certificates showing $20 million of public liability, and arrange access and scheduling with building managers and residents.
Do you provide a workmanship guarantee?
Yes. A seven-year written workmanship warranty applies to every Dandenong job, residential or commercial. Crews come background-checked and carry $20 million of public liability; certificates arrive whenever you ask.
How do I get a quote and book painters in Dandenong?
Get an instant quote online or call 1300 044 206. Scope, products, schedule and one final fixed price come to you in writing, and the booking locks in once you approve. For weathered exteriors or commercial sites, a walk-through gives the most accurate figure.
