I have worked with Phi and his team at Newline Painting on several of my projects, and I have always been impressed with the quality of their work.
They specialise in high-quality finishes, and their attention to detail really shows in the final result. The team is professional, reliable and takes the time to make sure every project is completed to the client’s satisfaction.

As a designer, I know how important the finishing touches are, and Newline Painting consistently delivers.
I would definitely recommend Phi and the Newline Painting team to anyone looking to refresh or transform their space with a beautiful new coat of paint.

An exceptional result of my kitchen cabinets, which had difficult grooves and patterns to begin with. They knocked it out of the park and now my kitchen looks new and fresh without having to replace the cabinets.
The whole process was excellent. From first contact, to quote, to price, to organising a date and time, and the paint job. You can tell these guys care about their work and their customers. Will definitely use again!
Phi and all his painters are skilled, caring and do an amazing job. I rely heavily on their expertise which is an enormous help in my business when recommending to all my clients. Confidence all the way !

From the owner, Phi, and manager, Edward, to the three team members, everyone worked together seamlessly to ensure the job was done smoothly. Our house now looks refreshed and vibrant. From start to finish, from booking to project complete, Newline did an awsome job. Selling a property is stressful enough and they certainly took the worry out of presenting the property in top condition. Not only the painting, but small cracks or a loose piece of skirting was instantly fixed. Couldn't believe it was the same property when they had finished. 6 stars if I could.

Thank you for the great job painting our house in Camberwell for sale before Christmas! Really appreciate the work your team did expertly for our bathroom, living room, bedrooms and the external house walls. Your team was efficient and friendly. We are very happy as it added at least $200,000 to the final house sale price.

I had a great experience with the Newline painting team. They offered a competitive price to repaint the interior of my apartment and were able to accommodate my tight timeline (they started 1 day after the quote was given) and still delivered high-quality work. Communication was smooth and professional from start to finish. I’m really happy with the result and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

All Newline Painting staff, Edward and his team were phenomenal. We needed to wait for another contractor to finish before starting the painting of the front facade of our house and despite a moving timeline, the NP team were quick to respond, courteous and were ready as soon as we were. The painting job is fantastic - the painters' attention to detail, thoroughness and efficiency was second to none. I'm very glad we went with NP as they're solution oriented and easy to work with. We'll definitely be hiring them again soon.

Ed and his team at Newline Painting did an outstanding job on repainting the interior of my home in South Melbourne! They were swift, tidy and professional throughout the entire project —5 stars wouldn’t be enough to rate their work. They weren't the cheapest quote we got but they definitely kept their promise on timeline, professionalism and their quality of work. Keep up the great work, guys! Highly recommend Newline Painting!

What we know about painting in Albert Park

Heritage overlays run right across Albert Park

Albert Park carries near-blanket heritage-overlay coverage under the City of Port Phillip, protecting the Victorian terrace streetscapes around Richardson Street, Canterbury Road and the residential blocks between the lake and the beach. On a contributory or individually significant facade, a new colour scheme may need planning approval first, so we look up your street’s overlay controls while preparing the quote, not after.

Albert Park Lake

Lead paint sits under most Albert Park facades

Albert Park was built out in the 1880s and 1890s land boom, with Edwardian infill following, so lead-based coats are assumed on any surface older than 1970 until a test clears it. Small front setbacks and shared party walls make containment non-negotiable here: we sand wet under sheeting, capture the residue, finish with a HEPA clean and dispose of the waste properly, and we never dry-sand an old facade.

Albert Park Lake looking towards the city

Bay air, lake winds and hard western sun

Albert Park’s weather works its exteriors from two directions. Sea air drifts several streets back from the beach past Beaconsfield Parade, so weatherboards and render on the Kerferd Road side chalk and cycle faster than the same walls further inland, while homes facing the lake and the open reserve take unbroken westerly sun and wind. We specify by elevation: salt-tolerant primers and Wattyl Solagard where the bay reaches, UV-resistant topcoats on the sun-hammered faces, mould-resistant systems on the shaded south walls.

Villages, the lake precinct and owners corporations

Albert Park’s commercial life runs through its two villages, Bridport Street and Victoria Avenue, and we repaint those shopfronts and cafes around trading hours so business never stops. The apartment blocks facing the lake and along the light rail bring owners-corporation approvals, common-property quoting and resident scheduling, all routine for us. Each March we also plan around the Grand Prix closures, booking deliveries and parking so race week never stalls a job.

Why choose us

Why Request a Quote from Newline Painting?

Newline Painting has painted Melbourne homes for more than ten years, carries $20M public liability cover, and won both the ASBA Small Business Champion award and a Master Painters Australia Award for Excellence in 2025.

7-Year Warranty

Seven years of workmanship cover, in writing, on the finish itself. Boom-era render and cast-iron lace punish rushed preparation quickly, so if anything we painted fails early, we come back and repaint it at our cost rather than debate it.

$20M Insurance

Public liability insurance of $20 million, current and documented before day one. Around here that certificate gets asked for: by owners corporations near the lake, by village landlords, and by neighbours whose parapet adjoins yours.

Reliable Scheduling

Start dates that hold, planned around real Albert Park constraints: the March race-week road closures, a cafe that must keep trading through its repaint, or a renovation sequence where painting has to land after plaster and before floors.

Rated 4.8 by our customers

In Port Phillip a paint finish gets judged against some of Melbourne's best-kept houses, which is the standard we quote to.

Pricing transparency

What Changes the Price of a Albert Park Painting Quote

Painting a house in Albert Park typically costs between A$4,000 and A$20,000 or more, depending on the size and condition of the home. As a per-square-metre guide, standard interior work runs about A$20 to A$30, detailed work with heavy trim rises to A$60 to A$100, and exterior repainting sits around A$15 to A$60. Albert Park tends toward the upper end, because the period homes here carry more trim, taller walls and more preparation than a modern build. Four things do most of the work on your quote, and our painting cost guide works through three examples in detail.

Surface area & number of coats

Nobody prices an Albert Park repaint honestly from a rate card. A double-storey boom terrace near the lake, a beach-end Edwardian weatherboard and a village shopfront are three different jobs. Three factors do the pricing work, and our painting cost calculator converts them into a working estimate before anyone visits.

Prep work required

Surface area sets the baseline, and terraces hide a lot of it. Freshening two bedrooms is one job; carrying a full interior repaint through a prestige terrace with 3.4-metre ceilings, arched hallways, ceiling roses and long runs of cornice and skirting is quite another. Every metre we measure is on the quote, and nothing gets rounded up.

Paint product specified

Condition decides the middle of the quote. Albert Park is largely pre-1900, so lead sits under most old coats, cast-iron lace carries rust, parapet render cracks, and weatherboards near the beach wear faster than their inland twins. On an exterior repaint here, that groundwork often outweighs the painting itself, and it decides whether the coat is still tight in year ten or peeling by year three.

Access & height

The paint on the quote moves money too: Dulux Wash & Wear suits a working budget, Haymes Ultra-Premium is the dearest tin we open, and Wattyl Solagard proves itself on weatherboard and render taking sea air at the beach end. The tins named on your Albert Park quote are the tins that arrive on site.

What that means for your place

A worked example for a Albert Park home

Rate bands are only useful once you put them against a real house. Take a bayside terrace in Albert Park, rendered facade, balcony and cast-iron detail.

240m²

of paintable exterior surface, which is the number that actually drives the quote, not the floor area.

A$15–60

per square metre for exterior work, depending on substrate and access.

A$3,600–14,400

indicative range for that house across two coats, before prep condition and access are assessed.

That is a planning figure, not a quote. Preparation condition, colour change, ceiling height and access move it, which is why we measure on site and give you one itemised written price rather than a rate.

Nobody gets subcontracted in: the crew that measures your Albert Park job is the crew on the scaffold. We have repainted two Victorian terraces on Victoria Road itself: one brought back in white over heritage-green lacework, the other finished in crisp white against black iron lace, and the same crew works the streets of neighbouring Middle Park. Frequently asked questions

Albert Park painting, answered

Do you service Albert Park?
Yes. Albert Park (3206) is core territory for Newline Painting, and we have completed exterior repaints of Victorian terraces on Victoria Road in the suburb itself. Call 1300 044 206 or price it online in about two minutes.
What painting services can I book in Albert Park?
Interior and exterior house painting, heritage terrace work, apartment and owners-corporation jobs, shopfront and pre-sale repaints, plus feature walls, decks, fences and epoxy garage flooring.
Do you paint Albert Park’s Victorian terraces?
Yes. Terrace prestige work is the heart of our Albert Park trade: parapet render repaired, cast-iron lace stripped and primed against rust, timber sashes re-puttied and enamelled, and heritage colour schemes matched to the streetscape.
Do I need council approval to repaint my Albert Park home?
Sometimes. Heritage overlays blanket most Albert Park streets under the City of Port Phillip, and repainting a contributory facade in new colours can need a planning permit. We look up your street’s controls before quoting.
Do you handle lead paint in older Albert Park homes?
Yes. With housing mostly from the 1880s and 1890s, lead is assumed under Albert Park’s old coats. Pre-1970 surfaces are tested, sanded wet inside containment and the waste disposed of correctly. We do not dry-sand, full stop.
How does the bay affect exterior paint in Albert Park?
Sea air off Port Phillip Bay drifts several streets inland past Beaconsfield Parade, so weatherboards and render toward the Kerferd Road end chalk faster and need salt-tolerant primers with coastal-grade topcoats such as Wattyl Solagard to reach a full service life.
Can you paint during the Grand Prix period in Albert Park?
Yes. The Formula 1 event closes roads around Albert Park Reserve each March, so we plan crew parking, deliveries and access around the closures, or simply schedule your exterior either side of race week. The date we commit to still holds.
Do you paint apartments and owners-corporation buildings in Albert Park?
Yes. Blocks around the lake and the light rail are regular work: units, corridors, stairwells and building exteriors, with quotes formatted for owners-corporation approval and access arranged around residents.
Can you repaint my Albert Park home before sale or auction?
Yes. A neutral repaint earns its cost back at an Albert Park auction. We work backwards from the photography and open-for-inspection dates so the paint is cured and the home ready before your first open.
How can I book painters in Albert Park?
Get an instant quote online or call 1300 044 206. Your quote sets out scope, products and one fixed figure in writing, the start date goes in the diary, and the finish carries 7-year workmanship cover.
